"Secure Communication: Protecting the Integrity of Big 12 Games with Reliable Helmet Radios"

"Uncompromised Big 12 Games: Ensuring Secure Helmet Radio Communications"

After expressing concerns about the security of helmet communications, Texas Tech University brought attention to the Big 12 Conference's announcement on Thursday stating that their games have not been affected by unsecured frequencies.

According to ESPN, Texas Tech reached out to the Big 12 after experiencing losses to Baylor and TCU, in order to ensure the integrity of the game was not compromised.

During a conference call with athletic directors from the Big 12 on Tuesday, Texas Tech's athletic director, Kirby Hocut, raised the issue after discovering that anyone with a scanner and knowledge of the frequencies could access in-game communications.

In a statement released on Thursday, Texas Tech stated that they accept the findings of the Big 12's review and will not comment further on the matter.

\"In light of recent concerns within the industry regarding helmet communications, the Big 12 conducted a thorough review of conference games and the processes surrounding helmet communications to address any issues raised by member institutions,\" the Big 12 said in a statement on Thursday. \"The review concluded that there was no compromise of any Big 12 competitions at any point.\"

Schools within the Power 4 conferences, which includes 68 teams, are allowed to use either GSC or CoachComm for coach-to-player communications. The Big 12 has now updated all helmet communications with GSC, which provides encryption.
