Season-ending injury sidelines Texas A&M's top rusher, Le'Veon Moss
Young Amari Daniels will step up for Texas A&M as top rusher Le\'Veon Moss is out for the rest of the season due to a leg injury.
Aggies leader Mike Elko confirmed that Moss will not play for the remainder of the season after gaining 765 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns on 121 carries this year. He left the game against South Carolina on Saturday with a knee injury.
Moss became the main running back after Rueben Owens got injured in August. Elko stated at the time that Owens was most likely out for the year, but also mentioned the possibility of him returning if the season extends beyond the regular season.
With only three games left, including a match against No. 5 Texas on November 30th, the Aggies now have only two scholarship running backs with game experience. This does not include freshman wide receiver Terry Bussey, who has carried the ball nine times for 84 yards and a touchdown in 2024.
Elko said on Monday, "We have faith in Amari and his ability to play in the backfield."
Daniels brought energy to the team with his longest career run last week against South Carolina, a 56-yard burst as part of a 13-carry, 83-yard performance against the Gamecocks. He also had a career-high 91 yards on 12 carries in the Aggies' victory over LSU last month.
No. 15 Texas A&M (7-2, 5-1) will have a break until their nonconference game against New Mexico State on November 16th.
