Sam Leavitt Named Arizona State's Starting Quarterback
According to ESPN, Sam Leavitt was designated as the starting quarterback for Arizona State, where he prevailed over fellow transfer Jeff Sims.
Leavitt made the move from Michigan State after spending two seasons there. The Sun Devils will kick off their first season in the Big 12 at home against Wyoming on August 31st.
Both players have been notified of the decision, as reported by ESPN. Sims transferred to Tempe from Nebraska.
In 2023, Leavitt appeared in four games for Michigan State, but did not start. He completed 15 out of 23 passes for 139 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Leavitt takes over for Jaden Rashada as the starting QB for the Sun Devils. Rashada transferred to Georgia.
Leavitt was a highly rated four-star QB in the Class of 2023 from West Linn, Oregon.
According to the preseason media poll, Arizona State was predicted to finish last among the 16 teams in the newly configured Big 12.
