"Pittsburgh Appoints Allen Greene as Athletic Director"

"Pitt Names Allen Greene as New Athletic Director"

Pitt has appointed Allen Greene as their new athletic director.

According to a statement released on Friday, chancellor Joan Gabel believes that Pitt Athletics is an important gateway for the university and that Greene is the perfect candidate to lead the program to success both on and off the field.

Greene has previously held positions as senior deputy athletic director and chief operating officer at Tennessee, as well as athletic director at Auburn and Buffalo. He also worked as a deputy AD at Ole Miss.

Originally from the Seattle area, Greene attended Notre Dame where he played baseball before being drafted by the New York Yankees in 1998. After a four-year stint in the minor leagues, he transitioned into a career in sports administration.

At 47 years old, Greene will be taking over for Heather Lyke, who was let go on September 6th.
