Former Clemson wide receiver Diondre Overton has passed away at the age of 26.

On Saturday, the university announced the death of Overton, but did not disclose the cause.

Overton played a key role in helping the Tigers win national championships in both 2016 and 2018. During his four-year tenure with the school (2016-19), he recorded 52 catches for 777 yards and seven touchdowns.

The program shared their condolences on Twitter, writing, "Clemson Football and the entire Clemson Family mourns the passing of Clemson alumnus Diondre Overton. Our thoughts are with his family and friends."

Overton had brief stints with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League and the Vienna Vikings of the European Football League. He also spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Stars of the United States Football League before being drafted by the Memphis Showboats in the UFL dispersal draft earlier this year.
