Ohio State and Notre Dame Top Final Top 25 Poll as Champions

The final Associated Press Top 25 college football poll of the 2024 season has unanimously declared Ohio State as the national champion, with Notre Dame coming in at No. 2.

In the College Football Playoff title game on Monday night, the Buckeyes (14-2) defeated the Fighting Irish (14-2) 34-23 in Atlanta, becoming the first national champion in the 12-team CFP era.

This is Ohio State's first title since 2014, while Notre Dame has achieved its highest end-of-season ranking since 1993.

Oregon (13-1) held the top spot in the poll for eight consecutive weeks before losing to Ohio State in the CFP quarterfinals. They finished at No. 3, followed by CFP semifinalists Texas (13-3) and Penn State (13-3).

This is the first top five finish for Penn State in 20 years.

For the first time ever, the Big Ten, which expanded this season with four new schools, has three teams in the final top five.

The rest of the top 10 includes No. 6 Georgia (13-3), the second seed in the CFP, followed by Arizona State (11-3), Boise State (12-2), Tennessee (10-3), and Indiana (11-2).

The Southeastern Conference has seven teams in the Top 25, while the Big Ten has five, and the Atlantic Coast Conference and Big 12 have four each.
