Notre Dame Cornerback Benjamin Morrison Announces Decision to Enter Draft
Notre Dame's cornerback, Benjamin Morrison, announced on social media on Thursday that he intends to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
Despite undergoing hip surgery in October and missing the rest of the season, the 6-foot, 190-pound junior is still expected to be a first-round pick.
According to ESPN's draft expert, Mel Kiper Jr., Morrison is projected to be selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 24th overall pick in his latest mock draft released on Thursday.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Morrison said, "After careful consideration and discussions with my loved ones, I have made the decision to forgo my final year of eligibility at Notre Dame and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft."
He also expressed his gratitude to Notre Dame and his excitement for the next chapter of his football career.
Morrison, a four-star recruit from Phoenix in the Class of 2022, played in 31 games and started 26 for the Irish. He recorded 84 tackles, 27 passes defended, nine interceptions, and one touchdown. However, he was limited to only six games in the 2024 season due to his hip injury.
In addition to Morrison's announcement, it was also reported on Thursday by 247Sports that three Notre Dame offensive linemen - Ty Chan, Rocco Spindler, and Pat Coogan - have entered the transfer portal.
This is a significant loss for the Irish, who just recently lost to Ohio State 34-23 in the College Football Playoff title game on Monday night.
Together, these three players have a combined total of 84 games played for Notre Dame, with 44 of those games coming in the 2024 season for the 14-2 Irish.
