Kent State suspends head coach from duties

Kent State has suspended head football coach Kenni Burns from his duties.

The university declared the decision on Thursday, but stated that they will not comment further on this personnel issue.

Offensive coordinator Mark Carney will take over as the leader of the Golden Flashes' on-field operations as spring practices are scheduled to commence this weekend.

Burns, who is 41 years old, has amassed a record of 1-23 during his two seasons with the Mid-American Conference team, including a winless 0-12 season in 2024.
