Wisconsin's starting quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke, was taken off the field on a cart after sustaining an injury during the opening drive against No. 4 Alabama in Madison, Wis.
Van Dyke, a fifth-year senior transfer from Miami, was injured while scrambling on a third down and appeared to hurt his right leg. He was replaced by sophomore Braedyn Locke, who started three games last season when Tanner Mordecai was injured.
In Wisconsin's first two wins against Western Michigan and South Dakota, Van Dyke completed 38 of 63 passes (60.3%) for 406 yards, with one touchdown and no interceptions.
The severity of Van Dyke's injury has not been announced.
