"Dillon Gabriel and Cam Ward Added to List of Heisman Finalists with Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty"

"Dillon Gabriel and Cam Ward Named Heisman Finalists Alongside Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty"

Ashton Jeanty, the running back for Boise State, and Travis Hunter, the defensive back and wide receiver for Colorado, have both been considered top contenders for the 2024 Heisman Trophy. However, there was some uncertainty surrounding who else would be joining them at the award ceremony in New York on Saturday.

But on Monday evening, the Heisman organizers put an end to the speculation by announcing that Jeanty and Hunter were indeed among the top vote-getters for the prestigious college football award. They also revealed that quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel from Oregon and Cam Ward from Miami (Fla.) will also be making the trip to New York.

Hunter, who plays both offense and defense for the Buffaloes, has been the favorite to win for several weeks now. He had an outstanding season in the Big 12, earning the conference's defensive player of the year award with four interceptions and 11 pass breakups. On offense, he led the Big 12 in receptions (92), receiving yards (1,152), and receiving touchdowns (14).

Not to be outdone, Jeanty has had an impressive season as well, rushing for a total of 2,497 yards. This puts him in fourth place for the highest single-season rushing total ever. He played a crucial role in leading the Broncos to a top-four berth in the College Football Playoff and is only 131 yards away from breaking the NCAA record for most rushing yards in a season, currently held by Barry Sanders (2,628 yards in 1988).

Joining them in New York will be Dillon Gabriel, who led the Oregon Ducks to an undefeated record and the number one ranking in the country. He threw for 3,558 yards and 28 touchdowns this season, and also holds the record for most career touchdowns accounted for in NCAA history (187).

Miami's Cam Ward also has impressive credentials, leading the nation in passing touchdowns (36) and ranking second in passing yards (4,123) and total touchdowns accounted for (41). He previously played for Washington State and Incarnate Word before joining the Hurricanes this season.
