Breaking News: UCF Appoints Former Appalachian State Coach Shawn Clark as Offensive Line Coach
UCF has reportedly hired former Appalachian State head coach Shawn Clark as their new offensive line coach, according to ESPN's report on Saturday morning.
Clark, who is 49 years old, was terminated earlier this month after achieving a 40-24 record with the Mountaineers. This included a 5-6 record in 2024, which marked his first losing season. He also had a successful record of 3-1 in bowl games.
Prior to becoming head coach in December 2019, Clark had previously served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Appalachian State.
During his coaching career, Clark has also worked as an offensive line coach for Kent State (2013-15), Purdue (2009-12), and Eastern Kentucky (2003-08).
UCF's new head coach, Scott Frost, has returned to the school after replacing Gus Malzahn, who recently left to become the offensive coordinator at Florida State.
Frost previously had a successful two-year stint (2016-2017) at UCF, achieving a record of 19-7 and going undefeated (13-0) in the 2017 season. He then left to coach at his alma mater, Nebraska, where he had a less successful record of 16-31 and was ultimately fired three games into the 2022 season.
Frost is currently in the process of assembling his coaching staff, with the recent announcement of Mike Dawson as the defensive run game coordinator and edge coach. Earlier this week, Alex Grinch was named defensive coordinator, and Kenny Martin will remain on staff as the defensive tackles coach.
