Blue-chip OL Douglas Utu flips from Tennessee to Oregon
Douglas Utu, a highly sought-after offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class, made the decision to change his commitment from Tennessee to Oregon on Thursday.
According to ESPN, Utu is considered a top prospect with a five-star rating and is ranked as the 13th best player in the 2025 cycle. The 247Sports composite, which gives him a four-star rating, places him as the second best interior offensive lineman in his class.
Utu stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 317 pounds, playing for the dominant Bishop Gorman team in Las Vegas. In 2023, the team went undefeated and won the Nevada 5A Division I state championship.
Before ultimately committing to Tennessee on June 24, Utu took official visits to Washington, Michigan, Nebraska, and Alabama.
Oregon's already impressive recruiting class now includes Utu, along with two other highly ranked players on the 247Sports composite: wide receiver Dakorien Moore from Duncanville, Texas, and safety Trey McNutt from Cleveland.
On Saturday, the No. 8 ranked Oregon team (3-0) will face off against a familiar Pac-12 opponent, UCLA (1-2), in their first Big Ten game of the season.
