"AP Top 25 Poll: Oregon Rises to Second Place, Penn State Claims Third Spot"

"AP Top 25 Poll: Oregon Climbs to Second, Penn State Ranks Third"

Following impressive wins on Saturday, Oregon and Penn State each rose one spot in the AP Top 25 college football poll on Sunday, with Oregon now at No. 2 and Penn State at No. 3. The top spot still belongs to Texas.

In the Red River Rivalry game, Texas dominated and defeated then-No. 18 Oklahoma 34-3 in quarterback Quinn Ewers' return, solidifying their hold on the top spot. The Longhorns (6-0, 2-0 SEC) received four more first-place votes (56) than last week, with the remaining six going to Oregon.

Oregon (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) held off Ohio State in a thrilling conference matchup, winning 32-31 and dropping the Buckeyes (5-1, 2-1) to No. 4.

This is the highest ranking for Oregon since their loss to Ohio State in the first College Football Playoff championship game in 2014, when they finished the season at No. 2.

Penn State (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) achieved their highest ranking in seven years after coming back from a 14-point deficit and defeating Southern California 33-30 in overtime with a field goal from Ryan Barker.

Georgia remains at No. 5 after their 41-31 win over Mississippi State, followed by Miami, Alabama, LSU (up five spots after beating then-No. 9 Ole Miss 29-26), Iowa State, and Clemson to round out the top 10.

Ole Miss (5-2, 1-2 SEC) experienced the biggest drop in the poll, falling nine spots to No. 18 after their second loss in three weeks.

Army (6-0) and Navy (5-0) made their season debuts in the poll at No. 23 and No. 25, respectively, and are ranked together for the first time since 1960.

After suffering their second consecutive loss, then-No. 16 Utah was upset 27-19 by unranked Arizona State and fell out of the Top 25.
