"Announcement: Georgia Quarterback Carson Beck Injured and Unavailable for CFP Quarterfinals"

"Update: Georgia Quarterback Carson Beck Ruled Out for CFP Quarterfinal Matchup"

Georgia's starting quarterback, Carson Beck, is expected to be absent from the team's College Football Playoff quarterfinal game at the Sugar Bowl on January 1st, according to a report from On3 on Thursday.

As a result, backup Gunner Stockton is likely to take over as the starting quarterback for the knockout round game, where the Bulldogs will face either No. 7 seed Notre Dame or No. 10 seed Indiana.

Beck, who has been the Bulldogs' starting quarterback throughout the season, was sidelined for most of the second half of the Southeastern Conference title game due to an injury to the UCL in his right elbow (his throwing arm). Stockton stepped in and helped lead the Bulldogs to a 22-19 overtime victory over Texas, securing a first-round bye in the first ever 12-team playoff.

According to On3, Beck has not been able to practice or join the team since they resumed workouts late last week.

It is currently unknown if Beck will be able to return for the semifinal round if the Bulldogs advance that far.

Throughout the season, Beck has thrown for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, in what is his second year as Georgia's starting quarterback.
