Analysis: Texas Quarterback Quinn Ewers (ankle) Scheduled for MRI Scan

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is scheduled to undergo a "precautionary MRI" to assess the extent of an injury he sustained during the No. 3 Longhorns' 31-14 win against Kentucky on Saturday, according to Orangebloods.com.

According to the report, the test will take place on Sunday and is being conducted to eliminate the possibility of any structural damage.

Following the game, Ewers described his ankle as "slightly tender" and recalled the play in the first half where the injury occurred.

"I was around the 50-yard-line and I stepped up and started running a bit, then got tackled and I think he rolled up on my ankle. But it's just part of football and these things happen," he said.

With Ewers struggling, the Longhorns relied on their running game in the second half, which began with a 24-7 lead for Texas.

Ewers completed 20 of 31 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. However, only 14 of those yards came in the second half as Texas gained 132 yards on the ground.

Next Saturday, the Longhorns will conclude their regular season against Texas A&M, with the winner earning a spot in the Southeastern Conference championship game against No. 10 Georgia. The No. 15 Aggies suffered an upset on Saturday, losing 43-41 to Auburn in a thrilling four-overtime game.
