"Announcement: Courtney Vandersloot Set to Return to Sky Team"

Courtney Vandersloot, who spent her initial 12 seasons in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky before playing two years for the New York Liberty, is preparing to rejoin her former team.

The 35-year-old point guard has reportedly agreed to a free agent contract with Chicago, according to multiple media sources. Vandersloot's representative confirmed the agreement to The Athletic, and ESPN noted that she has updated her Instagram bio to read "Chicago Sky."

As per WNBA free agency regulations, the deal cannot be officially finalized until Saturday.

The Athletic reported that Vandersloot also considered signing with the Seattle Storm and the newly formed Golden State Valkyries.

Vandersloot played a crucial role in leading the Sky to the WNBA championship in 2021, and she was a key contributor for the Liberty's league title team in 2024.

A five-time All-Star and five-time All-WNBA selection, Vandersloot has led the league in assists on seven occasions.

Last season, Vandersloot's statistics were lower than usual, as she averaged a career-low of 6.4 points and 4.8 assists (her lowest mark in the past 12 years) in 31 regular-season games, all of which she started. In the playoffs, she came off the bench in all 11 games and recorded 5.3 points and 2.5 assists per contest.

Throughout her career, Vandersloot has maintained averages of 10 points, 6.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 429 games (398 starts).
