UConn to be the main attraction at 40th Maui Invitational

The Maui Classic, relocated last year due to catastrophic fires on the island, will make a comeback to Maui this autumn with consecutive national title holder UConn participating in the competition.

The renowned event will celebrate its 40th anniversary when it takes place on November 25-27 at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui.

Accompanying the Huskies in the eight-team lineup are Memphis, Colorado, Michigan State, Auburn, Iowa State, Dayton and North Carolina.

Three of these teams - UConn, Iowa State and North Carolina - made it to the Sweet 16 of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. In total, seven of them were chosen for the tournament.

\"This year's Maui Classic boasts one of the most formidable fields in the history of the competition,\" declared Dave Odom, chairman of the tournament. \"The lineup is filled with teams aiming to make a mark in the NCAA Tournament, including UConn, who are making their fifth appearance in the Maui Classic and seeking to defend their consecutive national titles.\"

The tournament was held in Honolulu in 2023.
