Injury to Shoulder of Auburn's Star Player Johni Broome Appears to be Severe

Auburn's power forward/center, Johni Broome, who is considered one of the best players in the nation, sustained an injury just two minutes into the second-ranked Tigers' home game against Georgia State on Tuesday night.

After successfully scoring a layup and blocking a shot on the other end of the court, Broome was substituted for Chaney Johnson. He then headed to the locker room and during a media timeout, he was spotted on the bench wearing a hoodie and with ice on his right shoulder.

According to the Auburn radio broadcast, Broome's condition will be reassessed during halftime.

The 6-foot-10 fifth-year athlete currently leads the country in rebounds with an average of 12.7 per game. He also tops the SEC in blocks with an average of 2.8 per game. In addition, he ranks second in the SEC in scoring (19.7 ppg) and has an average of almost 3.8 assists per game.
