"Season-ending Injury Expected for Arkansas Newcomer Boogie Fland (hand)"
Arkansas freshman guard Boogie Fland is anticipated to be out for the remainder of the season due to a hand injury.
Fland, who was expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, sustained the injury on January 11th during a game against Florida when he landed on the court and his teammate Billy Richmond III accidentally landed on his hand.
Despite trying to play in the next two games, Fland struggled with a combined 8-for-30 shooting.
Head coach John Calipari commented on the injury last week, stating that Arkansas will "make sure we get that thing right."
According to CBS Sports, Fland will not be playing for the rest of the season.
"His hand is pretty bad. We're not sure what we'll do going forward," said Calipari on Saturday.
Originally recruited by Calipari to play for Kentucky, Fland followed the coach to Fayetteville along with several other transfers from the Wildcats. He has been a standout player, averaging 15.1 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game.
Without Fland, the Razorbacks will likely rely on transfers D.J. Wagner and Johnell Davis. Davis has been playing nearly 30 minutes per game but has more turnovers (27) than assists (23).
Wagner is averaging 10.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
Fland was already ruled out for Wednesday's game against Georgia (14-4) after scoring only four points in Saturday's 83-65 loss against Missouri, making it the Razorbacks' fifth consecutive defeat. Arkansas (11-7) has yet to win a game in the SEC.
