Mark Sears guided a momentous 3-point onslaught, sinking 10 of 16 shots from deep and amassing 34 points to propel No. 2 seed Alabama to a 113-88 triumph over No. 6 seed BYU in a Sweet 16 matchup in the East Region on Thursday in Newark, N.J.
Alabama (28-8) set new NCAA Tournament records with 25 3-pointers on 51 attempts. The Crimson Tide are seeking their second consecutive Final Four appearance.
Sears also dished out eight assists and fell just one 3-pointer short of tying the individual tournament record set by Jeff Fryer of 1990 Loyola Marymount. Aden Holloway also contributed to the 3-point barrage with 23 points, shooting 6 of 13 from beyond the arc.
Richie Saunders led the way for BYU (26-10) with 25 points, while Egor Demin added 15 points and seven assists. The Cougars outscored the Crimson Tide 50-16 in the paint, but struggled from the 3-point line, shooting just 6 for 30 (20 percent).

Freshman standout Cooper Flagg put up 30 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and three blocks to lead the Blue Devils to a victory over the Wildcats in Newark.
Duke (34-3) went on a 13-shot streak, including making their first nine shots of the second half, to take the lead. They were able to hold off a strong comeback effort from Arizona, led by Caleb Love's season-high 35 points.
Kon Knueppel scored 20 points and Sion James added 16 for Duke. Jaden Bradley and Henri Veesaar also contributed with 15 and 13 points respectively for the Wildcats (24-13), who made 12 3-pointers but couldn't keep up with Duke's scoring.

No. 1 Florida 87, No. 4 Maryland 71
Will Richard led the way with 15 points as six players for Florida scored in double digits in their victory over Maryland in San Francisco.
Alijah Martin added 14 points and Walter Clayton Jr. had 13 for Florida, who dominated the bench scoring with a 29-3 advantage. The Gators (33-4) also outrebounded the Terrapins 42-20.
Maryland's freshman standout Derik Queen, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and potential NBA draft lottery pick, put up 27 points for the Terrapins (27-9). Ja'Kobi Gillespie also contributed with 17 points.

Darrion Williams' layup with seven seconds left in overtime completed a thrilling comeback for the Red Raiders against the Razorbacks in San Francisco.
Williams also hit a long 3-pointer with nine seconds left in regulation to force the extra period. He struggled in the first half, shooting just 2 for 12 from the floor.
Christian Anderson led Texas Tech (28-8) with 22 points, while JT Toppin added 20 and Kevin Overton had 12 off the bench. Arkansas (22-14) was led by Johnell Davis with 30 points and Karter Knox with 20 points.
