Kansas G Shakeel Moore Sidelined for Up to 8 Weeks with Broken Foot

Kansas guard Shakeel Moore underwent surgery to fix a fractured foot and may be sidelined for up to eight weeks, according to the university. The injury occurred during a recent pickup game.

The Jayhawks will kick off their 2024-25 season on November 4th against Howard and are expected to be highly ranked in the preseason polls.

Moore started his college career at North Carolina State in 2020-21 before transferring to Mississippi State for three seasons. In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 7.9 points, 1.8 assists, and 23.5 minutes per game in 33 games (22 starts) for the Bulldogs.

Last season, the Jayhawks had a record of 23-11 and added fifth-year senior guard Moore to their roster in June after sophomore guard Elmarko Jackson suffered a torn patellar tendon, ruling him out for the entire 2024-25 season.

Kansas' backcourt will also feature returning player Dajuan Harris Jr. (8.5 points, 6.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds per game last season) and transfers Rylen Griffen (11.2, 1.9, 3.4 for Alabama last season), AJ Storr (16.8, 3.9, 2.8 for Wisconsin last season), and Zeke Mayo (18.8, 3.5, 5.7 for South Dakota State last season, named Summit League Player of the Year).
