"Jalen Warley from Virginia G opts for transfer portal"

Virginia guard Jalen Warley is set to join the transfer portal, as announced by interim coach Ron Sanchez on Tuesday.

Warley, who made the move from Florida State, leaves without ever stepping onto the court for the Cavaliers.

Warley's departure comes less than two weeks after the sudden retirement of Virginia's head coach Tony Bennett.

The 6-foot-7, 205-pound senior from Philadelphia was expected to compete for a starting position this season.

Warley maintained an average of 6.0 points, 2.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 96 games (58 starts) over three seasons with the Seminoles.

The Cavaliers will kick off their season on November 6th at home against Campbell.
