Iowa State's head coach, T.J. Otzelberger, has agreed to a contract that will keep him with the team until the 2031-32 season, according to an announcement made by the school on Tuesday.

Currently ranked third, the Cyclones have a record of 9-1 this season. They also made it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament last year, marking the second time in three full seasons under Otzelberger's leadership.

In a news release, Otzelberger expressed his love for Iowa State University and the community, and his happiness in continuing to call it home. He also acknowledged the incredible support of the team's fan base and their importance in the journey ahead.

At 47 years old, Otzelberger has an impressive record of 79-36 with the Cyclones.

Before joining Iowa State in 2021, Otzelberger served as head coach for South Dakota State for three seasons and UNLV for two seasons.

In his first season with Iowa State, the team went 22-13 and reached the Sweet 16. The following year, they went 19-14 with a first-round NCAA loss. Last season, the Cyclones had a record-breaking 29-8 season, but ultimately lost to Illinois in the Sweet 16.

Athletic director Jamie Pollard praised Otzelberger's leadership and the transformation of the program under his guidance. He also commended the team's daily habits and their role in one of the most impressive turnarounds in college basketball history.

Otzelberger's overall record is 178-99, and he has led South Dakota State to the NCAA Tournament twice, with star player Mike Daum.

Next up, the Cyclones will host Morgan State on Sunday.
