Following a successful run to the Elite Eight, Clemson's head coach Brad Brownell has been granted a contract extension that will last until the 2028-29 season.

According to reports, the Clemson board of trustees has approved a new contract for Brownell that will pay him $20 million over the course of five years. This will begin with a salary of $3.5 million for the upcoming season and increase by $250,000 each year after.

While Clemson did not disclose the financial details of Brownell's contract, they did announce the extension on Thursday.

In a statement, Brownell expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue leading the Clemson Basketball program. He thanked athletic director Graham Neff, President Jim Clements, and the entire administration for their belief and confidence in him and his staff. Brownell also highlighted the team's recent success and his pride in being a part of the Clemson family.

At 55 years old, Brownell holds the record for most wins as Clemson's head coach with a record of 265-189 over 14 seasons.

Under Brownell's leadership, the Tigers have made four NCAA Tournaments, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2018. This past March, they were a No. 6 seed and defeated New Mexico, Baylor, and Arizona to reach the Elite Eight for only the second time in program history. Their run ended with a loss to Alabama.

This contract extension comes just one day after ACC rival Pitt extended their coach Jeff Capel through the 2029-30 season.
