The Washington Wizards' shooting guard, Malcolm Brogdon, is currently in the process of recovering from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. This announcement was made by the team on Tuesday.

Brogdon sustained this injury during a practice session in Montreal on Saturday and had the procedure done on Tuesday in New York. The Wizards stated that updates on his recovery will be provided as necessary.

At the age of 31, Brogdon has already played for five different NBA teams, including the Portland Trail Blazers, who traded him to the Wizards in July. Washington's first game of the 2024-25 season will be on October 24th, where they will face off against the reigning champions, the Boston Celtics, at home.

Brogdon has had a successful career so far, being named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2016-17 while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Sixth Man of the Year in 2022-23 with the Celtics.

Throughout his 439 games in the NBA, Brogdon has averaged 15.4 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.2 rebounds. He has played for the Bucks (2016-19), Indiana Pacers (2019-22), Celtics, and Blazers.
