"Pelicans Guard Trey Murphy III Inks 4-Year, $112 Million Contract Extension"

Trey Murphy's hamstring is still aching, but his bank account will not suffer, as the New Orleans Pelicans small forward inked a four-year deal worth $112 million, according to a report from ESPN on Monday.

The contract extension allegedly does not include any bonuses or a player option.

At 24 years old, Murphy posted averages of 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 57 games (23 starts) last season. He boasts a career 39.2 percent success rate from beyond the arc in 198 games (89 starts) since being selected 17th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Heading into his fourth year in the league, Murphy strained his right hamstring during a training camp practice in Nashville on October 2nd. This will mark the second consecutive season that he has missed the season opener.

In a recent interview with HoopsHype, Murphy maintained a positive outlook on his injury rehabilitation.

"It's going well. I'm on track and haven't experienced any setbacks," he stated. "I've just been putting in work every day and striving to improve. It's a tricky injury, but I'm making sure to give myself the proper rest and recovery. It will be re-evaluated in three weeks, and then we'll determine the next steps in the recovery process."

The Pelicans will kick off their season at home on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls.
