Raptors' Scottie Barnes has orbital bone fracture, out 3 weeks
Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes suffered a fracture in his right orbital bone and will undergo re-evaluation after three weeks, the team announced on Wednesday.
During Monday's 127-125 overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets, Barnes was hit in the face by Nikola Jokic's elbow while fighting for a rebound in the fourth quarter.
Barnes did not return to the game and ended with team highs in points (21) and assists (nine), along with 12 rebounds.
He was previously ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets.
At 23 years old, Barnes is currently averaging 19.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in four games this season.
As the 2021-22 Rookie of the Year and an All-Star last season, Barnes has an average of 16.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in 215 career games (214 starts) since being selected by the Raptors as the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
