"Jazz F Taylor Hendricks (leg) has surgery, ending season"
Utah Jazz player Taylor Hendricks underwent a successful operation at a hospital in Salt Lake City on Wednesday for a broken right fibula and a dislocated ankle.
Hendricks sustained the injury during the third quarter of a 110-102 defeat to the Dallas Mavericks on October 28. He slipped near the basket and landed awkwardly, causing his right leg to be positioned unnaturally.
He was carried off the court on a stretcher and will be out for the remainder of the season.
The second-year forward had an average of 4.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in three games (all of which he started) this season.
Hendricks was chosen as the ninth overall pick in the 2023 draft from the University of Central Florida. He had an average of 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 40 games (23 of which he started).
The Jazz currently have a record of 1-6 and will play against the Milwaukee Bucks (1-6) on the road on Thursday.
