The Atlanta Hawks inked a deal with forward Jalen Johnson on Monday, extending his contract for multiple years.

The specifics of the agreement were not disclosed, but according to ESPN, the extension is worth $150 million over five years and is fully guaranteed.

In a statement, Hawks general manager Landry Fields praised Johnson, saying, "He embodies the qualities we value as an organization, both on and off the court. He has consistently shown improvement and has the character and work ethic to continue growing his game. He has become a key part of our team and we are excited to see his development continue in Atlanta."

Johnson, who was drafted 20th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, has averaged 9.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in 148 games (58 starts) over his three-year career.

His biggest jump came between his second and third seasons. After primarily coming off the bench and averaging 14.9 minutes per game in his sophomore year, Johnson took on a starting role in the 2023-24 season. He saw a significant increase in his production, going from 5.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game to 16.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in the following year. He also had a career-best 35.5 percent 3-point shooting percentage while averaging 33.7 minutes per game in 56 games (52 starts).

Monday was the deadline for 2021 NBA Draft picks to sign extensions on their rookie-scale contracts.
