Kobe Bufkin, the guard for the Atlanta Hawks, will have surgery on his right shoulder that will end his season, according to an announcement made by the team on Wednesday.

The surgery, which will address the issue of "right shoulder instability," is set to take place on January 7th.

Back in October, the team had revealed that Bufkin had partially dislocated his right shoulder for the second time. He had already missed the summer league due to a similar injury.

Bufkin, who had a promising career at Michigan, has had a difficult first professional season due to various injuries, including a fractured thumb and a sprained big toe that caused him to miss all but 17 games.

The 20-year-old was selected as the 15th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He had an average of 5.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 10 games this season, but did not start in any of them.
