"Chances of De'Aaron Fox Joining a New Team: Teaming Up with Wemby Takes the Lead"

According to reports, the Sacramento Kings are open to trading their star point guard De'Aaron Fox, and one team is already favored to acquire him.

There has been speculation that Fox could be paired with Victor Wembanyama, and the San Antonio Spurs have been given -150 odds by a sportsbook to land him if the Kings decide to trade him before the Feb. 6 deadline.

While there will likely be multiple teams interested in Fox, an ESPN report stated that he already has a preferred destination in mind for when he becomes a free agent in 2026. It is worth noting that Fox's wife, Recee, is from San Antonio.

The Houston Rockets have the second shortest odds at +300, followed by the Miami Heat at +400. The Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, and Orlando Magic also have relatively high odds to acquire Fox.

Fox is currently in the fourth year of his five-year, $163 million max extension that he signed in November 2020. He has a cap hit of $37.1 million for the 2025-26 season and turned down a three-year, $165 million max extension last year.

This season, Fox is averaging 25.2 points, 6.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 43 games. He has been with the Kings for eight years since being drafted fifth overall in 2017 and was an All-Star in 2022-23. Throughout his career, Fox has averaged 21.5 points, 6.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 512 games (498 starts). If he chooses to become an unrestricted free agent, Fox could sign a five-year, $296 million extension with the team that has his rights or a four-year, $219 million deal with another team, according to ESPN.

Currently, the Kings are in 10th place in the Western Conference with a record of 24-22 and recently fired their head coach, Mike Brown.
