Promising big man Evan Mobley has agreed to a lucrative five-year, $224 million maximum rookie extension that will keep him with the Cleveland Cavaliers until the end of the 2029-30 season, according to a report from ESPN on Saturday night.

The deal could potentially be worth up to $269 million, as reported by the same source.

Selected third overall by the Cavaliers in the 2021 draft, Mobley had an impressive rookie season, averaging 15.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 50 games as a starter. He was also a runner-up for Rookie of the Year in 2022 and earned All-Defensive honors the following year.

Last season, the 23-year-old saw career-high shooting percentages, making 58% of his field-goal attempts, 37.3% of his 3-pointers, and 71.9% of his free throws.

In his three seasons with the Cavaliers, Mobley has started in all 198 games, averaging 15.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks.
