"Yandy Diaz Returns to Rays' Roster After Being on Restricted List"

"Yandy Diaz returns from restricted list as Rays activate him at first base"

The Tampa Bay Rays welcomed back first baseman Yandy Diaz from the restricted list on Friday afternoon.

It is currently unknown if Diaz will be included in the starting lineup for the Rays\' matchup against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Diaz was absent from the team's recent seven-game road trip due to a personal matter. He will fill the vacant spot on the roster after the Rays traded outfielder Randy Arozarena to the Seattle Mariners on Thursday.

Regular third baseman Isaac Paredes has been filling in for Diaz at first base. Paredes broke out of an 0-for-15 slump on Thursday against Toronto, recording two hits and four RBIs.

Diaz, who will turn 33 on August 8, holds the second-highest batting average on the Rays at .273. He leads the team with 104 hits and has eight home runs and 46 RBIs in 94 games.

Last season, he set a team record with a .330 batting average and won the American League batting title.

Throughout his career with the Cleveland franchise (2017-2018) and the Rays, Diaz has maintained a .288 batting average with 69 home runs and 322 RBIs in 703 games.
