White Sox put outfielder Austin Slater (knee) on injured list

The Chicago White Sox have added outfielder Austin Slater to the 10-day injured list on Saturday due to a meniscus tear in his right knee.

This decision is retroactive to Friday, when Slater was initially scheduled to play but had to be removed from the lineup due to the pain.

According to White Sox manager Will Venable, it is currently unclear whether Slater, who is 32 years old, will need to undergo surgery for his injury.

So far this season, Slater has a batting average of .250 with one home run and one RBI in eight games.

This is Slater's first season with the White Sox. Throughout his career, he has maintained a .252 average with 41 home runs and 172 RBIs in 642 games with the San Francisco Giants (2017-24), Cincinnati Reds (2024), Baltimore Orioles (2024) and White Sox.

In a corresponding move, Chicago has called up outfielder Greg Jones from Triple-A Charlotte. Jones, who is 27 years old, was batting .129 with one home run and five RBIs in nine games with Charlotte.
