"White Sox Place Martin Perez (Elbow Injury) on 15-Day Injured List"
The Chicago White Sox put Martin Perez on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday and brought up fellow lefty Jared Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte.
Perez exited Friday's matchup against the Boston Red Sox after three innings due to inflammation in his left elbow. He gave up five hits on 52 pitches, including one of Trevor Story's two three-run homers in Chicago's 10-2 loss.
\"We rely on Martin,\" stated White Sox manager Will Venable on Friday night. \"We need his presence on the mound and in the clubhouse.\"
At 34 years old, Perez holds a record of 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA in four starts this season, his first with the team since signing a one-year, $5 million deal.
A first-time All-Star in 2022 with Texas, Perez has a career record of 91-88 with a 4.43 ERA in 318 games (273 starts) with the Rangers (2012-18, 2022-23), Minnesota Twins (2019), Red Sox (2020-21), Pittsburgh Pirates (2024), San Diego Padres (2024) and White Sox.
Shuster, 26, has a record of 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in six relief appearances with Charlotte this season.
He has a career record of 6-8 with a 4.93 ERA in 50 games (15 starts) with the Atlanta Braves (2023) and White Sox.
