"Three Lower-Level Pitchers Banned for Performance-Enhancing Drugs"

Three minor league athletes were given 56-game suspensions on Friday after failing drug tests for substances that enhance performance.

Kener Perez, a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Ibrahyn Jimenez, a pitcher for the San Diego Padres, and Yonathan Frias, a free agent pitcher, were all suspended for violating the drug prevention and treatment program for minor league players who are not based in the United States or Canada.

Perez, who is 19 years old and from Colombia, is currently on the Cardinals' Dominican Summer League team. He tested positive for Stanozolol, according to the commissioner's office.

Jimenez, who is 17 years old and also from Colombia, is on the Padres' Dominican Summer League team. He tested positive for Nandrolone.

Frias, who is 18 years old and from the Dominican Republic, was previously on the Atlanta Braves' Summer League team in the Dominican Republic. He tested positive for Boldenone.
