Boston Red Sox outfielder/designated hitter Masataka Yoshida is recuperating from an operation to repair the labrum in his right shoulder.

On Wednesday, the team announced that Yoshida, 31, underwent a successful surgery on October 3rd. Dr. Evan O\'Donnell conducted the procedure at Massachusetts General Hospital. The Red Sox did not specify if he would be ready for the beginning of spring training.

Before signing a five-year, $90 million deal with the Red Sox on December 7th, 2022, Yoshida played seven years of professional baseball in Japan.

In his two seasons with Boston, he has a batting average of .285, with 261 hits, 116 runs, 25 home runs, and 128 runs batted in over 248 games.

In 2024, he only played in 108 games due to a strained left thumb that kept him out of action from April 28th until June 11th.
