Pirates force DeJong to leave game after being struck in the face by a pitch
Washington Nationals third baseman Paul DeJong departed Tuesday night's matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates after being struck in the face by a pitch in the top of the sixth inning.
DeJong was hit by a 92.7 mph fastball thrown by Pirates starter Mitch Keller.
Immediately after being hit, DeJong fell to the ground and was tended to by team trainers for a brief period. He then walked off the field and into the dugout while holding a towel to his face.
Amed Rosario took over for DeJong on the bases.
