The Philadelphia Phillies have prolonged the contract of manager Rob Thomson until the end of the 2026 season, as announced by president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski on Tuesday.

Dombrowski also confirmed that the entire coaching staff of the Phillies will remain for the upcoming season.

These decisions were made six days after the Phillies were unexpectedly eliminated in four games by the New York Mets in the National League Division Series.

At the age of 61, Thomson led the Phillies to a 95-67 record this year and their first NL East title since 2011. He has a record of 250-185 in his three seasons as the manager in the City of Brotherly Love.

During Thomson's tenure, the Phillies reached the World Series in 2022, but lost in six games to the Houston Astros. They also fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks in seven games in the 2023 NL Championship Series.
