Pablo Lopez, Twins' pitcher, sustains hamstring injury and exits match

Pablo Lopez, Twins' pitcher, suffers hamstring injury and exits match.

Minnesota Twins pitcher Pablo Lopez departed from Tuesday night's matchup against the Kansas City Royals in the bottom of the fifth inning due to tightness in his right hamstring.

After issuing a walk to Jonathan India with two outs in the fifth, Lopez grabbed the back of his right leg. Twins shortstop Carlos Correa noticed and approached Lopez, who then informed the dugout.

Following a brief discussion with a trainer, the 29-year-old left the game. The Twins ultimately lost 2-1 to the Royals.

Manager Rocco Baldelli stated after the game that he believes the injury is not severe, noting that Lopez experienced some tightness but had to exit the game.

\"When I say it's mild, we believe it's very mild,\" Baldelli explained. \"We will continue with our original plans and monitor the situation. Tomorrow, we will have more information and can make a decision.\"

In 4 2/3 innings, Lopez gave up one unearned run on three hits, with six strikeouts and one walk.

So far this season, Lopez has a record of 1-1 with a 1.62 ERA in three starts. He was selected as an All-Star in 2023 and placed 7th in the American League Cy Young Award voting.
