"Orioles reinstate ex-highly touted prospect Heston Kjerstad"

The Baltimore Orioles activated outfielder Heston Kjerstad and right-handed reliever Jacob Webb from the disabled list prior to Sunday's matchup against the Detroit Tigers.

As part of the corresponding moves, Baltimore designated left-hander Cole Irvin and infielder Nick Maton for assignment.

Kjerstad, 25, the second overall pick in the 2020 draft, was listed as the designated hitter and batting fourth in Sunday's starting lineup. He has a .261 batting average, three home runs, and 12 RBIs in 28 games this season.

On July 13, Kjerstad was struck in the head by a pitch and was placed on the injured list on August 7 (retroactive to August 1) due to symptoms of a concussion. During his rehab assignment, he recorded a .333 batting average, a double, a run, three walks, and three RBIs in six games split between Single-A Aberdeen and Double-A Bowie.

Webb, 31, had been sidelined for over a month with inflammation in his right elbow but recently pitched three scoreless outings during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk. This season, he has a 1-5 record with a 3.08 ERA in 53 relief appearances.

Irvin, 30, has a 6-5 record and a 4.85 ERA in 25 games (16 starts) this season.

Maton, 27, has yet to record a hit in five games with the Orioles this season.
