"National Team Adds RHP Michael Soroka (biceps) to Disabled Roster"
The Nationals have placed right-handed pitcher Michael Soroka on the 15-day injured list on Friday due to a right biceps strain.
Soroka, who made his debut with the Nationals on Monday against Toronto, had a rough outing with four runs and five hits allowed in five-plus innings. He left the game in the sixth inning due to biceps cramping, ending with three strikeouts and one walk in the 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays.
The 27-year-old Soroka signed a one-year deal worth $9 million with Washington in December.
A former National League All-Star and runner-up for Rookie of the Year with the Atlanta Braves in 2019, Soroka has a career record of 17-19 and an ERA of 3.73 in 70 games (53 starts) with the Braves (2018-2020), Chicago White Sox (2024), and Nationals.
In a corresponding move, the Nationals have recalled right-handed pitcher Jackson Rutledge from Triple-A Rochester. The 2019 first-round pick has a record of 1-1 and an ERA of 5.72 in seven career appearances (five starts) for the Nationals from 2023-2024.
