The Detroit Tigers were just one out away from achieving a combined no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night, ultimately securing a 1-0 victory over the visiting team.

Tyler Holton's no-hit bid was ended by Gunnar Henderson's triple, while Kerry Carpenter's first-inning home run was the only run of the game.

Beau Brieske and Brant Hurter were perfect through seven innings before Hurter walked Adley Rutschman in the eighth. In the ninth, Holton retired Emmanuel Rivera and struck out pinch hitter Coby Mayo before Henderson's triple. Holton then struck out Anthony Santander for his eighth save of the season.

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-4, with Aaron Judge hitting a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning to end his 16-game homerless drought.

Judge's homer, his 52nd of the season, was his first since August 25 and helped the Yankees maintain their three-game lead over the Orioles in the American League East. He also leads the league with 130 RBIs.

The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11-3, with Jose Quintana pitching seven dominant innings and Francisco Alvarez, Brandon Nimmo, and Pete Alonso each hitting three-run homers.

Quintana, who has a 0.36 ERA in his last four starts, gave up just three hits and no walks while striking out four. The Mets are now within seven games of the Phillies in the National League East.

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 in 11 innings, with Alejandro Kirk hitting a long RBI single to secure the win.

Erik Swanson got the win for the Blue Jays, while Kevin Gausman allowed two runs and nine hits in seven innings for the Cardinals.

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1, with Rhys Hoskins hitting a two-run homer and five pitchers limiting the Diamondbacks' offense.

Freddy Peralta got the win for the Brewers, giving up one run on six hits and four walks while striking out five in five innings. The Diamondbacks are now half a game behind the San Diego Padres for the top wild-card spot in the National League.

The Oakland Athletics shut out the Chicago White Sox 2-0, with Brady Basso earning his first career win and Lawrence Butler extending his hitting streak to 21 games.

Basso allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out two in 5 1/3 innings. The White Sox have now lost a franchise-record 16 straight home games.

The Houston Astros beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-3, with Alex Bregman hitting a two-run homer and Yusei Kikuchi pitching seven solid innings.

The Seattle Mariners rallied to beat the Texas Rangers 5-4, with Julio Rodriguez hitting a three-run homer in the eighth inning. It was the Mariners' third win in four games.

The San Diego Padres shut out the San Francisco Giants 5-0, with Fernando Tatis Jr. hitting his third consecutive home run and Dylan Cease striking out 10 over six scoreless innings.

The Washington Nationals beat the Miami Marlins 4-1, with Luis Garcia Jr. hitting a home run and Dylan Crews stealing two bases and scoring a run.

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2, with Gio Urshela and Jorge Soler hitting two-run homers in the second inning.

The Cincinnati Reds beat the Minnesota Twins 8-4, with Elly De La Cruz hitting his first career grand slam and TJ Friedl hitting a home run and driving in three runs.
