Mets Remain Hopeful as Prospect Jett Williams Suffers Ankle Injury
In the final game of the Arizona Fall League, New York Mets prospect Jett Williams suffered an ankle injury while colliding with the outfield wall.
According to MLB.com, Mets officials are confident that the sprained right ankle of their second-ranked prospect will not greatly affect his offseason.
Williams, who is 21 years old and plays shortstop and outfield, is currently a member of the Scottsdale Scorpions in the AFL. In 21 games this fall, he has a .225 batting average, two home runs, nine RBIs, and seven stolen bases.
The injury occurred in the first inning when Williams, playing center field, chased down a leadoff double by Tyler Callihan of the Glendale Desert Dogs. After throwing the ball to the cutoff man, Williams collided with the fence and fell to the ground.
In his first three seasons in the minor leagues, Williams has a .252 batting average with 14 home runs, 65 RBIs, and 56 stolen bases in 164 games. He also spent six games with Triple-A Syracuse in 2024.
