Illness sidelines some players under Reds' manager Terry Francona

"Terry Francona, Reds' Coach, Absent Players Due to Sickness"

Terry Francona, the manager of the Cincinnati Reds, will be absent from Friday's away game against the Milwaukee Brewers due to a sickness that is spreading among the team.

Nick Krall, the president of baseball operations for the Reds, refused to reveal which players were sent back to the hotel, stating to reporters that he did not want to disadvantage Cincinnati in competition.

Freddie Benavides, the bench coach, will be leading the team in place of the 65-year-old Francona on Friday night.

The lineup for Cincinnati was announced on Friday afternoon, including players such as shortstop Elly De La Cruz, second baseman Matt McLain, center fielder T.J. Friedl, and right-handed pitcher Nick Martinez.

Notably absent from the lineup were outfielders Spencer Steer and Jake Fraley.

Catcher Jose Trevino, who is not listed in the lineup, informed reporters that he is feeling well.

Krall stated that the Reds are currently trying to determine the nature of the illness that has affected the team.

In their last three games, the Reds have lost by scores of 1-0.
