"Duals put Right-Handed Pitcher Pablo Lopez (hamstring) on Injured List"
The Minnesota Twins' right-handed pitcher, Pablo Lopez, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday due to a strain in his right hamstring.
The injury occurred during Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals, causing Lopez to be removed from the game in the fifth inning. The move is retroactive to Wednesday.
Lopez, who is 29 years old, has a record of 1-1 and an impressive 1.62 ERA in three starts this season. He has also struck out 14 batters and only walked two in 16 2/3 innings.
The former All-Star has played in 161 games (all starts) for the Miami Marlins (2018-22) and the Twins, with a record of 55-50 and an ERA of 3.86.
In a corresponding move, the Twins have called up 25-year-old right-hander David Festa from Triple-A St. Paul. Festa will be starting in Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers in Minneapolis. He previously played for the Twins in 2024, going 2-6 with a 4.90 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) as a rookie.
