Daikin Park to Replace Astros Stadium Name Until 2039
The Houston Astros will now be playing baseball at Daikin Park as part of a 15-year naming-rights partnership that was announced on Monday.
The new agreement with Daikin Comfort Technologies North America Inc. will go into effect on January 1st and will continue through the 2039 season.
Previously known as Minute Maid Park since 2002, the 41,000-seat stadium was originally called Enron Field when it first opened in March 2000.
Daikin, which was founded in Japan in 1924, currently operates the largest HVAC manufacturing facility in North America in the Houston area and employs around 10,000 people. Some of their top brands include Goodman, Amana, and Quietflex.
\"We are thrilled to be teaming up with Daikin for the naming rights of our ballpark,\" said Astros owner and chairman Jim Crane in a news release. \"Daikin is a global company that proudly considers the Greater Houston area its North American home.
\"The Houston Astros and Daikin share the same values, a dedication to excellence, and a desire to give back to our local community. As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of this ballpark in 2025, I am proud to have Daikin by our side to create even more unforgettable moments for our fans now and in the future.\"
The first game at Daikin Park will take place on March 24th as the Astros face off against their Triple-A affiliate, the Sugar Land Skeeters, in an exhibition game. The Astros will then kick off their 2025 regular season on March 27th against the New York Mets.
