Breaking News: Reds to Add LHP Taylor Rogers to Roster in Trade with Giants
According to reports from FanSided and ESPN, the Cincinnati Reds are in the process of finalizing a deal with the San Francisco Giants for left-handed pitcher Taylor Rogers.
In exchange, the Reds will be sending minor league right-hander Braxton Roxby to the Giants, as reported by FanSided.
Rogers, who is currently 34 years old, is in the last year of a three-year contract worth $33 million that he signed with the Giants before the 2023 season. He is set to earn $12 million in 2025.
During the previous season, Rogers had a record of 1-4 and an impressive ERA of 2.40 in 64 relief appearances for the Giants.
Throughout his career, he has played for four different teams and has a record of 28-34 with an ERA of 3.34 and 83 saves in 509 relief appearances. He was also selected for the American League All-Star team in 2021. Additionally, he has a career strikeout rate of 10.5 per 9 innings.
Interestingly, Rogers' twin brother, Tyler, has been a member of the Giants for the past six seasons.
On the other hand, Roxby, who is 25 years old, had a record of 0-4 and an ERA of 5.21 in 39 relief appearances for Double-A Chattanooga in 2024.
