New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo plans to continue playing in the National League Championship Series despite dealing with painful plantar fasciitis, as he revealed to The Athletic.

According to Nimmo, he has been suffering from the condition in his left foot since May and it resurfaced during Game 3 of the NL Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The discomfort is most severe when he runs, but he is less affected when batting or playing defense, he explained.

\"I believe that when I really need it, I may not be at 100 percent, but I can still perform well,\" Nimmo said about his ability to run. \"However, it is definitely uncomfortable.\"

Nimmo acknowledged that the injury requires time to heal, but with the Mets trailing 1-0 in the best-of-seven series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he doesn't have the luxury of time. For now, he is managing the pain with stretching, painkillers, and anti-inflammatories.

Despite the injury, Nimmo is determined to keep playing.

\"It's the NLCS,\" he told The Athletic. \"You do whatever it takes to get out there and contribute in any way possible.\"

Nimmo, who is 31 years old, was a crucial player for the Mets during the regular season, despite his .224 batting average. In 151 games, he hit 23 home runs and recorded 90 RBIs and 15 stolen bases, all of which were career highs.

In his ninth season with the Mets, he has played in 911 games and has a .261 batting average with 110 home runs and 371 RBIs.

During this postseason, he has a .241 batting average (7-for-29) with one home run and four RBIs.
