The Toronto Blue Jays placed shortstop Bo Bichette on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a fractured finger, ending the two-time All-Star's disappointing season.

Bichette, 26, sustained the injury to his right hand on Wednesday during a game against the Texas Rangers. This came after he had just returned from an eight-week stint on the IL for a calf injury.

According to the Blue Jays, Bichette broke his finger while taking groundballs before the game. Despite the injury, he managed to go 2-for-5 with an RBI in Toronto's 13-8 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.

Manager John Schneider stated, "When it happened, he still continued to hit and finish his defensive work and it was bothering him. He was frustrated. I do think he's in a pretty good place in terms of perspective and things like that. He was obviously frustrated, but knowing that something positive will come out of this."

Schneider confirmed that X-rays showed a fracture and Bichette will see a hand specialist. However, he expects Bichette to be ready for spring training.

This season, Bichette had a career-low batting average of .225 in 81 games, with four home runs and 31 RBIs.

A two-time All-Star in 2021 and 2023, Bichette has a career batting average of .290 with 93 home runs and 343 RBIs in 609 games since joining the Blue Jays in 2019.

In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays called up outfielder Jonatan Clase, who they acquired in a trade with the Seattle Mariners in July for veteran reliever Yimi Garcia.

Clase, 22, only played in 19 games for the Mariners, batting .195 with three RBIs. However, in 94 games at the Triple-A level, he hit .263 with 12 home runs, 45 RBIs, and 38 stolen bases.
